Why Are These Products Not CG Approved?
Warning-rated products contain at least one ingredient from three problem categories:
- Sulfates — harsh cleansing agents that strip natural oils, leading to dryness and frizz.
- Non-water-soluble silicones — film-forming ingredients that build up over time and can only be removed with sulfate shampoos, creating a dependency cycle.
- Waxes — heavy coating ingredients that cause similar buildup problems and weigh down curls.
The CG Method avoids these ingredients to prevent a cycle of stripping and coating that damages textured hair over time. If you're transitioning to CG, you may need a final clarifying wash with a sulfate shampoo to remove existing buildup before switching to approved products.
